This generation of consoles has been THE generation of 1st person shooters, in all sorts of flavors, the market is completely over-crowded with them, including many mediocre ones, so I won't be sorry if they disappear from the hozizon come next gen... after Killzone 4 is released of course.
Seriously, I'd just like more traditional 2D action-platformers like LBP or Puppeteer next gen, please. And Beat'em ups. And Shoot'em ups.
I really can't believe we're there already, at dusk before a new gen PlayStation system is revealed. I didn't see this gen come and go, it's insane, I still have so many PS3 games to play! And here I thought the PS4 could come out in 2015-2016!
This gen really went fast for me, compared to the PS2, or even PS1 gens, and I've been owning a PS3 for longer than I owned my PS2! Crazy!
If we're talking the systems specifically, then of course the PS3 as it can do everything the PS1 & PS2 did, and a hell of a lot more: Blu-Ray playback, web browser, mp3 playback, slideshot with your photos, etc.
When it comes to games however, the PS3 has had its share of high-quality exclusives like God of War III, Heavy Rain, LittleBigPlanet 1&2, Heavenly Sword, Killzone 2 & 3, Super Rub a Dub, Uncharted 1, 2 & 3, WipeOut HD, Demon's Souls and so on...
Yep, just like I foretold a couple days ago. It will probably also allow you to stream PS1, PS2, and PSP games for good measure.
I own Lair, it's very impressive technically, and pretty enjoyable actually, but marred by time limits and sometimes unclear objectives. Apart from that, it's playable for everybody now, with the patch.
If it's true then I can see where this is going... people won't buy a system without any physical games, that Xbox will be the most spectacular failure of the industry, and It will be MS's exit out of the gaming business.
Damn I hope not. Release w/e you want with it, even Uncharted 4 if you have to, but please not NOT Killzone 4, especially not this year!
*Gulp!* And here I was thinking about holding off on buying the PS4 for a couple of years, since I have enough with my PS3, and don't have the money for a PS4, I wanted to wait for a price cut and more reliable hardware, but if a new Killzone game really is on the starting block I, I... *head explodes*

I really don't understand why all of you keep trashing Crytek and their games. Cevat Yerli is Crytek's CEO, it's his job to sell the CryEngine and talk about tech all the time, it's kinda what they do, you know.
Also, I must be one of the few on this site who had a blast with Crysis 2, then. I didn't like it quite as much as Killzone 2 or 3, but definitely better than Crysis 1, and in any case far, far better than other FPS games that people often refer to...

They can call it "PlayStation 4", it's alright, with the "arabic" (ahem, ahem) figure, even the Japanese will most definitely call it "Puleiste Foa" and not use the pronunciation "Shi" as if it were the japanese numeral 四 (which could be mistaken with 死, the kanji for death, which has the same pronunciation).
